What is a symposium?
A meeting of experts in a given area related to one of the Congress's preferred subject areas, in which key topics for debate and reflection are discussed and worked on. The symposia are held in parallel to the Congress's other activities and a maximum of three will be scheduled.
The symposia will be held by proposal of the attendees in the terms described below.
Content and structure of the symposia
- Description of the main topic of the symposium and of how it relates to one or more of CIDUI's preferred subject areas. Priority will be given to those proposals related to these areas, which are as follows:
- Area 1. Evaluation and institutional quality
- Area 2. Cooperation in and for knowledge
- Area 3. Innovation in higher education
- Area 4. Autonomous student learning
- Area 5. Internationalisation of the university
- Design or structure of the symposium, according to how it will be conducted over the proposed time.
- Duration of the symposium. Symposia will have a maximum length of 4 hours.
- Names and surnames of the authors of the proposal, who must be a team consisting of at least three and at most six experts in the field from at least two different countries and institutions (preferably).
- Name and surnames of the coordinator, who shall be the sole contact for the organisation for correspondence purposes.
Evaluation of symposium proposals
The symposium proposals are chosen by the CIDUI's Organising Committee, subject to a prior favourable evaluation and report from the Special Commission of the Scientific Committee.

. The proposal must have the following structure and content:
- TITLE
- SYMPOSIUM COORDINATOR
- Surname(s) and name
- Department/Institute
- Faculty/School /Centre
- University
- Brief curriculum vitae (between 200 and 300 words)
- THREE (3) KEYWORDS
- KNOWLEDGE AREA
Indicate the area of the proposal's content:
- Arts and Humanities
- Sciences
- Health Sciences
- Social Sciences and Law
- Engineering and Architecture
- More than one area (please specify) 3
- SUBJECT AREA
Indicate the preferred subject area for the 7th CIDUI to which the symposium relates:
- Area 1. Evaluation and institutional quality
- Area 2. Cooperation in and for knowledge
- Area 3. Innovation in higher education
- Area 4. Autonomous student learning
- Area 5. Internationalisation of the university
- LANGUAGE(S): Indicate the language(s) in which the presentation will be givenat the Congress:

- PROPOSAL SUMMARY: Between 1,000 and 2,000 words.
- SYMPOSIUM STRUCTURE: Explain how the symposium will be conducted, the structure it will have and/or how the activities will be broken down.
- BIBLIOGRAPHIC REFERENCES: Indicate between four and six references related to the proposed topic, preferably by authors who will be actively participating in the symposium.
Accepted symposium proposals
- The CIDUI Secretariat will notify the coordinator of the acceptance of the symposium proposal by e-mail as of 20/01/2012.
- All authors of the accepted proposal must register for the Congress through the website, although the registration fee will be waived. (See 'Registration'.)
- The 7th CIDUI organisation will cover the following expenses for three people, who must be authors of the accepted symposium proposal:
- Registration for the Congress, including the material, Congressdocumentation and attendance at all activities.
- Accommodation for a maximum of one night, at a hotel or boarding house to be determined by the Congress.
The CIDUI organisers shall NOT be liable for any other expenses that may arise in relation to holding the symposium.
