In recent years, the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Barcelona has offered some introductory courses in different subjects for new students, among them the topic of Economic History. From this experience, the paper presents a methodological approach that uses blended learning to overcome the problem of diversity of backgrounds of these students and, ultimately, limit high levels of failure from a first course of university education.
