What is CIDUI?
The International Congress on University Teaching and Innovation (CIDUI) is considered an agora for improving and innovating teaching, widely recognized for its 25 years of experience within its university system. CIDUI is a meeting point for reflection, debate, and the exchange of experiences among professionals from various fields related to teaching, research, and university management, with the aim of generating a rich dialogue around the challenges faced by current university teaching and education.
In July 2000, the Institutes of Educational Sciences (ICEs) of the University of Barcelona, the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia organized the first CIDUI Congress. The organizers were aware that they were experiencing rapid changes that required much more attention to the continuous variability of things than to their stability and continuity.
Gradually, the rest of the Catalan public universities joined CIDUI. Currently, it includes the Institutes of Educational Sciences of the University of Barcelona (UB), the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), the University of Girona (UdG), the University of Lleida (UdL), and the Rovira i Virgili University (URV); the Center for Learning Innovation and Knowledge (CLIK) of Pompeu Fabra University (UPF); the eLearning Innovation Center of the Open University of Catalonia (UOC); and the Catalan Association of Public Universities (ACUP), which has held the technical secretariat since 2014.
Mission and Objectives
CIDUI’s mission is to promote the improvement of the quality of university teaching and training through teaching innovation and the exchange of experiences between institutions and higher education professionals. To achieve this, CIDUI aims to:
- Promote innovation in teaching methodologies and in teaching-learning approaches in the university context.
- Facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experiences on good teaching practices between universities and institutions from different countries.
- Encourage reflection on the current and future challenges faced by higher education both locally and internationally.
