FLEXIBLE TRAINING MODELS: A RESPONSE TO THE CURRENT NEEDS
This general theme will be addressed in the VIII International Conference on University Teaching and Innovation (CIDUI) that will be held on 2 – 4 July 2014, in Tarragona, at Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV).
Since the year 2000, a new CIDUI conference has been held every two years. Today, it is a well established event that brings together a large number of lecturers and other professionals in the field of education, driven by the good will of turning the university into an institution that responds to the challenges of our society.
On account of the current educational, social and economic context, the upcoming CIDUI conference is conceived as an occasion for reflecting on and sharing ideas and experiences with regard to the educational outputs that the university can offer in order to help the students satisfy their needs and have access to occupation. Another important question is how this can contribute to the competitiveness of qualified workforce. In the field of higher education in Spain, flexible models aiming to reach a balance between basic education, professional competences and orientation in the labour market have arisen in recent years. These models give an increasingly active part to the student, not only in their education, but also in the institutional context, in which they are encouraged to engage.
MAIN SUBJECT AREAS OF INTEREST
In the process of selecting the papers and determining the activities for the VIII CIDUI conference, priority will be given to the proposals related to the topics of interest listed below. Within the scope of each topic, the proposals that deal with experiences set in the framework of centres and degrees that boast institutional commitments or support and that have been shown to involve improvement and innovation in teaching will be treated as a priority. Research or studies related to the general theme and that are particularly relevant according to the criteria established by the Scientific Committee may also be accepted as proposals
Topic 1. Flexible models in the organization of education
Experiences of dual training education and other training options
Institutional and organizational models in online education (blended methodology and virtual modality)
Impact of organization of education on access to labour market and competitiveness of qualified workforce
Interuniversity projects collaborative teaching, student exchange, joint degrees across universities, accreditation, experiences in regard to bachelor’s degrees and postgraduate studies in affiliated university institutes, etc.)
Use of infrastructure and services on university campuses
Quality assurance of educational programmes
Topic 2. Emergent educational programmes
Projects that aim to facilitate mobility between different programmes (double degrees)
Programmes that integrate research and teaching

Experiences of collaboration with secondary education

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)
Topic 3. Student participation and contribution to university life
Strategies to encourage students to engage in the institutional context
